GOT ROOFTOP SOLAR RANGE ANXIETY?
The invention of “hybrid” cars eased the transition from fully fueling cars with gasoline to adding the option of driving in electric mode for some portion of travel. Hybrid cars offered anxiety free transportation while taking that first step into driving electric with zero emissions.
Fast forward to today. With the multitude of EV car chargers dotting roads and towns and the longer-range capacity of modern EV cars, range anxiety for the electric car market is almost over. “Hybrid” cars eased that transition.
Enter rooftop solar range anxiety. Similar to “hybrid” cars, ‘hybrid” solar power systems are readily available for homeowners who can choose to have a smaller portion of their home’s electricity as green renewable energy made by the sun, while still having the traditional utility grid electricity for the balance.
In fact, most all rooftop solar power systems do remain connected to the traditional utility grid for back up electricity, useful on a cloudy day or at night. The utility also acts as bookkeeper keeping track as to how much this grid-tied solar electricity is producing and what solar rebates or incentives are accruing.
Most solar power systems do in fact use the utility as their battery or storage of electricity to draw upon whenever needed. You can choose to install a more “hybrid” solar system that produces for example 50% of your energy usage with your solar panels. If your roof is large enough you may wish to install up to 120% or more of your average electricity usage depending on your utility. When your solar energy system produces more electricity than you use, in Minnesota your utility will pay you for that excess electricity at the retail rate which is referred to as net metering.
Your utility will send you those net metering dollars in a true-up or each time you hit a certain amount. So with either a “hybrid” size solar electric system providing you with some green energy produced by solar panels or a larger system, there is an option for everyone’s entry into producing your renewable energy.
You will see excellent savings with either a “hybrid” solar power system or a larger sized solar power system in most cases. Additionally, when applying the 26% 2021 Solar Federal Tax Credit, area utility rebates, zero money down installations and green energy low interest loans – the savings are even greater.
Installing either a smaller “hybrid” or larger solar power system on your roof in most cases reduces your electric bill on day ONE. AND can save you thousands on your electric bill over the years. All while simultaneously lowering carbon emissions, reducing the burning of fossil fuels and helping the environment. Anxiety free.
